Everyday, my little brother tries to make friends at the park. One day, a mother told me that her son is not allowed to play with black kids, and took her son away telling him that my brother wasn’t good enough for him. Everyday my brother continued to try to play with the young boy. Today, my brother questioned why he was not good enough for the boy. The mother had no answer, and now she lets her son play with my little brother. My brother’s determination inspires me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
My dad is the strongest person I know. Why? Because he has beaten two separate types of leukemia, enduring the strong chemo therapies and the bone marrow transplant. All so that he can be around for my mom, brother and I. ----------------------------------------------------
Today, I saw a homeless man with a big jar of money at McDonald's. I thought he was going to buy food, but no. Instead, he donated all of the money to the charity McDonald's was supporting. A man with nothing still gives. -----------------------------------
Today, I saw an elderly woman crying on the train. My boyfriend sat next to her and hugged her until she stopped crying. She told him that her husband had just passed away. My boyfriend said, "Don't cry that he's gone. Be happy that you had him." -----------------------------------------------------------------------
My parents divorced after 25 years of marriage. They swore never to see each other again. Yet a week ago, they came to my wedding. And they spoke at the reception while holding hands. My mom said, "We will always be there for our Jenny, no matter what." ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Two years ago, I got into a horrible car wreck. I was in a coma for 4 weeks. When I finally woke up, my boyfriend was lying in the hospital bed with me, singing my favorite song. When he realized I was awake, he started crying, and then got on one knee and proposed. Apparently, he had been visiting me everyday, waiting for me to wake up. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
My parents are divorced and I live with my mom. My brother lives with my dad in a different state. We only saw each other on Christmas so we weren't very close. While walking home, I was beat up and mugged. I texted everyone in my phone to come help me because I couldn't walk. My brother drove for six hours to try and find me. --------------------------------------------------
My best friend is the daughter of a single mother who is struggling to get through Medicial school. Despite my friend only being in grade 11, she works every single night to help her mother pay the bills, babysits her younger sister all weekend and still gets straight As. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Today, my school practiced for our graduation ceremony. Some people would cheer for their friends as they walked across the stage. When the Special Education students went across, everyone cheered louder than anyone else. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
One day a man jumped off the Golden Gate bridge. When the police went searching through his house afterward, they found a note. It read: "Today I will walk to the bridge. If anyone smiles at me, I won't jump." I make a point to smile at everyone now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I was a sophomore, there was a girl I knew who was in 8th grade. She was born with no feet, and only one finger and a thumb on each hand. She played soccer and scored more goals than any of the other girls on her team. Her power not to let anything get in her way inspires me everyday. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Six months ago I took a bottle of pills and drove my bike into a tree. I woke up in a hospital a week later and found out my friends 13 year old sister, who I had never spoke to before, found me and called 911. She stayed with me in the hospital when I was unconscious, refusing to leave until she knew I was alright. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
I asked my 3 year old daughter if she wanted to help people when she grows up. She replied, "But, mommy, I can do that now." She gathered all her old toys and asked me to donate them to less-fortunate children. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
My best friend passed away a year ago. On her death bed, she cried to her daughter, "I cannot imagine you growing up without me telling you how much I love you." Her 5 year-old daughter replied, "Then video it, mommy, and I promise I'll watch it every day until forever." A year later, Mollie still watches the video every day. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I was 8, I ran away with my older sister on Christmas Eve. We were sitting on the curb when a car pulled up & the family invited us to their house. The next morning there were presents for us under their tree. 10 years later, I'm in college and still visit my adoptive family. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today I handed a new employee his paycheck. I asked him what he planned to do with it, seeing as he's young and this is his first job. He replied "I'm going to buy a homeless man lunch at a nice restaurant and put him up in a motel for a few nights." I discovered he's rich and doesn't need the job. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had cancer 2 years ago, and lost all my hair to chemo. I was dreading going back to school after being isolated in the hospital for 3 months. The day I went back to school I discovered my entire 8th grade class of 56, both girls and boys, had shaved their heads. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today, I was in New York City. I was on the Subway when a man got on and told us he had sandwiches, socks, chips, soap, and toothbrushes for anyone who needed it. He said he was once homeless and knew what it was like having nothing. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
I went with my daughter-in-law to visit my son's grave today. She sat down by his grave and started talking to him like he was still there. I asked if she did this every time she visited him and she said, "I do this everyday." ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday, I decided to tell my very religious friend that I am bisexual. I expected the worst. Instead of saying anything I expected, she smiled, gave me a big hug, and told me that whoever I ended up with, boy or girl, would be the luckiest person in the world. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
A pregnant woman was told to abort her 4th child by the doctors. They told her there was a chance she could die if she gave birth. She said "I'd rather die than kill my own child." She lived. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
